Cotton Hill provides a range of services to meet your needs. We can help every step of the way from your initial concept to creating and hosting a regularly published podcast. Through research and experimentation, we have discovered the best ways to make podcasting work for your business. And since we have over 20 years of experience in audio, podcasting is a natural extension of our services.
What is Podcasting?
Podcasting is the method of distributing multimedia files over the internet via RSS or Real Simple Syndication feeds. A podcast is most similar to a radio show. The show consists of a series of individual episodes that you can choose to listen to using your PC, MP3 player, or through your web browser. You can listen to these episodes one at a time through your web browser or you can 'subscribe' to the entire podcast series using a podcast ‘aggregator’ like iTunes on your PC.
What happens when I subscribe to a podcast?
When you subscribe to a podcast, all new shows will be automatically downloaded to your computer as they are published. You then have the option of listening to the broadcast on your computer, or you can transfer it to your portable MP3 player for listening on the go.
Do I need an iPod to receive podcasts?
The name comes from iPod and broadcasting, which has managed to cause confusion because an iPod is not needed to listen to podcasts.
How can podcasting help me or my clients?
Podcasting is most ideal for people looking to regularly produce and distribute content. Some examples are:
- Weekly educational or informational series
- Seminars, speeches, training programs
- Company news and press releases
- Conference and meeting alerts
- Audio news or interviews
Services that Cotton Hill can provide
File Creation
We capture the audio elements by either bringing our professional mobile studio to you, or by doing the recording here in our studios. We also provide talent casting services if you would like to find that perfect voice to bring your content to life. Once the audio is captured, we edit, mix, and add other production elements like music or sound effects. We then prepare the file with catalog and ID information, create the
XML coding, and then your audio will be ready for podcasting.
Site Creation and Hosting Services
Cotton Hill can provide the proper residence for your podcast so that all of your clients can have easy access to it. You don’t have to worry about having the appropriate bandwidth on your server.
We have developed a proprietary service called Pod Zone which makes it simple for anyone to listen to, download, or subscribe to your podcast. We can create a webpage for you at Pod Zone which reflects the look and feel of your existing website. This page will house your podcasts and give your users multiple subscription options or the ability to simply listen through their web browser. Users will be able to add the feed to their Google, MSN or Yahoo homepages or listen or subscribe through an aggregator like iTunes.
When new content is created, Cotton Hill will manage and upload the files so that all subscribers will automatically receive the updates.
Content Creation
We can assist you with content creation by offering copywriting services, or giving you ideas on how to keep your podcasts interesting and listener-friendly.
